The HSE has confirmed that the Day service that operated in Mohill prior to the Covid 19 Pandemic will re open in the purpose built nursing unit and day service in Ballinamore .
It's following concerns raised earlier by Leitrim Sinn Fein Deputy Martin Kenny who said there were reports that the service was being taken out of Mohill, and that people were very worried.
In a statement this afternoon the HSE said that following a review by the Infection Prevention Control team the day centre at Arus Carolan did not meet Infection and Control requirements for day services reopening post Covid pandemic.
It said the decision would also ensure the HSE continues to meet the Hiqa requirements re the long term care facility at Arus Carolan.
Leitrim Development company will operate the day service at Ballinamore on behalf of the HSE through a service Level Agreement.
Those older People attending will be supported in the transfer and transport provided by SITT will be available to attend the Ballinamore Day Service.
There will be access to Public Health Nurse and Allied Health professionals as appropriate in the adjoining Primary Care Health Centre.
The HSE statement says the decision was taken in the best interests of day service users who previously attended at Arus Carolan.
