Anger is being expressed that a Ballinasloe Nursing home has been left without additional support from the HSE after a major outbreak of Covid among staff and residents.
90% of residents at Nightingale Nursing Home have tested positive for Covid this week with just a handful of staff now left to run the facility.
The HSE is being called on to provide immediate assistance to the east Galway nursing home after a major outbreak of Covid.
All staff and residents at the home were tested for Covid earlier this week and twenty-six of the twenty-eight residents have now tested positive
One resident has also died and another is believed to be seriously ill in hospital.
It's believed just four staff remain in the home, including a chef, with only one Nurse and one Carer on site.
Due to the outbreak, it is believed that residents may need to be sent to hospital as the facility is unable to cope.
One resident who tested positive has died, while another is understood to be seriously ill in hospital.
The issue was raised by TD Michael Fitzmaurice in the Dail.
Denis Naughten also raised the issue and Tanaiste Leo Vardakar admitted the case was very concerning
