The HSE says any care facilities which have not fully re-opened in the Shannonside region are due to additional refurbishment works which need to be completed to comply with best infection control practices.
The Minister for health this week told the Dail that no centres in Leitrim should be closed as a result of Covid precautions after the matter was raised by TD Marian Harkin.
She explained that Leitrim Councillors earlier this month had raised concerns that centres in Mohill and Manorhamilton had reduced services and capacity for what they termed was 'Covid safety'. In a statement to Shannonside FM this afternoon following the Dail exchange, the HSE says 81% of Day Service facilities have reopened within the area after a steering group began overseeing the resumption of sevrices in July of last year.
The HSE says while services are awaiting improvements, additional places have been provided in alternative Day Service facilities with transport provided through Local Link or alternative if required. The HSE also claims that it is continuing to work towards the full reopening of all remaining units within existing facilities or via third party providers in alternative facilities.
