The HSE are encouraging those in the region to consider all healthcare options before attending the emergency department.
Local hospitals are expected to once again be busy over this bank holiday weekend. Anyone who needs urgent access to a GP can contact the MIDOC Out of Hours GP service, which will also be available all day on Bank Holiday Monday. Roscommon Injury Unit is open from 8am to 8pm all this weekend, including bank holidays, while the Mullingar Minor Injuries Unit will be open 10am to 6pm today and tomorrow, but will close on Monday.
Catriona Mcdonald, General Manager at the regional hospital Tullamore says non-urgent patients who attend EDs may experience long wait times.
