The HSE's handling of the withdrawal of a provider for an out of hours GP service in the Midlands has been described as a debacle.
Local Councillor Paul Ross made the statement following an update from the HSE at yesterday's Regional Health Forum.
The MIDOC service stopped operating in it's official capacity on Christmas Eve last year, with questions surrounding its future after January the 1st.
The HSE later confirmed that the service would be supported in the interim until a new contractor is appointed, a process which is currently underway.
There has been no service interruption to date and the public is invited to contact and attend the facility if needed in a medical situation.
Councillor Ross has criticised a lack of communication from the health service during process.
You had four counties affected by this over the Christmas period, and they didn't think to consider to inform any of the elected members, and I should say the senior politicians , Ministers, in those counties, who hadn't been given the courtesy of a call either .
It just goes to show you, I don't believe the HSE are going to learn lessons , we're going to continue to look for answers as to what went wrong .
I don't believe they fully addressed it yesterday , to tell us it was up on Twitter and Instagram, I mean that's absolute rubbish in my eyes.
