Those over 70, anyone with a compromised immune system and those in long-term care can get a COVID booster vaccine from today.
It's part of the HSE's Spring vaccination campaign following advice from the National Immunisation Advisory Committee.
It'll be available from participating GP's, pharmacists or at local vaccination centres.
Eileen Whelan, National Lead of the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme says the vaccine immunity does wear off, so top ups are needed:
'If it's three months since your last Covid 19 booster or since your previous infection, its now time to boost your immunity again.
NIAC have now approved this Spring Booster so it gives everyone an opportunity to get their Spring Booster and also allow them to get a booster later in the year in the Autumn/Winter when there are high numbers of viruses being transmitted.'
