The HSE has ordered the closure of a Roscommon based food premises. An inspection was carried out in the Ballaghaderreen based Sausage Paradise, located on Pound Street. The registered butcher shop was subject to an inspection by HSE officers last month. Inspectors noted a number of major issues on the premises including Sanitation, personal hygiene, and food traceability. According to the report, there were no wash up sinks or dishwasher provided for the washing and sanitation of food equipment and no hand washing facilities for food workers to wash their hands after handling raw meat.
Compounding this, the HSE officers found that there was no food traceability and no labelling information provided on any of the pork products sold. A further hazard analysis conducted also found that there was no probe thermometer, no record keeping, and no temperature monitoring on site. The outdoor cooking smoke house was also discovered to be made out out of chipboard, which inspectors say causes a risk of contamination. The HSE inspectors ordered the closure of the business on the 13th of last month.
