The HSE has confirmed that no beds will be lost at St Joseph's Care Centre in Longford due to roof repair works.
Councillor Peggy Nolan yesterday highlighted fears that up to 8 beds would be lost at the Dublin Road facility due to essential works to Our Lady's Unit 1.
In a statement to Shannonside Northern Sound this afternoon, The HSE has confirmed that residents from the affected ward will be temporarily relocated to another unit within the care centre.
According to the Health Service, residents and families are being formally notified of this decision this week, with staff working with service users to make the transition as smooth as possible.
It's expected that the works will be completed by the end of the year.
