The HSE is seeking planning permission for new developments at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar.
The plans submitted to Westmeath County Council seek a the construction of a 2 storey energy centre on the Longford Road site.
The development would also see the installation of roof mounted solar panels and door and cladding replacement works.

Works will also include the replacement of existing windows and external ductworks to a protected structure.
County planners will decide on the case in July.
