The HSE has thanked doctors and health staff in Longford following their efforts to use up a major over-delivery of Covid-19 vaccines last week.
However the health service has refused to take the blame for the miss-allocation of almost 1,500 doses of the Pfizer BioNtech Vaccine.
According to them, the orginal order for the vaccines from Longford GP, Doctor Syed Ali, was for 15 hundred vaccine doses for patients within Cohort 4, those aged 16 to 69 who are at very high risk from the virus.
The HSE claim the Longford GP attempted to change the order but due to staffing issues the request did not process before the shippment was dispatched.
This is denied by Doctor Ali.
