Two former mental health units in south Leitrim are to be sold by the HSE as it has no further use for them.
Health officials have confirmed that the buildings were offered to Leitrim County Council for housing, but the local authority declined the offer.
At the latest meeting of the HSE's health forum, Leitrim Councillor Felim Gurn asked about empty HSE buildings across the county.
The properties at Hyde Terrace in Mohill are two-bedroom homes used previously as mental health client accommodation.
The HSE admits that the properties require significant upgrades and the HSE intends to dispose of these properties as they are surplus to requirements.
The future use of several other properties in north Leitrim is also under review - including the Old health centre in Dowra as well as Fox's House at New Line in Manorhamilton.
