Huge crowds will descend on Carrick on Shannon this weekend for the town's carnival.
The festival gets underway this evening and will run until Bank Holiday Monday.
This year's schedule of events include the Taste of Carrick, vintage cars, fireworks, live music, riverside fun and street entertainment.
Chairperson Sharon Garland says any event which brings people into town is good for business and the local economy.
Speaking to Shannonside FM News Sharon thanked the community, volunteers and businesses for their support.
''It's kicking off tonight with Taste of Carrick and then a whole weekend of activities for adults and children up until Monday evening. We have stewards and we have accommodation for up to 4,000 people so we would in the region of that. It couldn't be run without the support of the local community and businesses.''
