It's claimed there is a "huge housing crisis" in Co Roscommon - with 50 people waiting over 10 years for a council home.
They are among 756 people in the county on the social housing waiting list, according to freedom of information figures.
Five people have been waiting 17 or 18 years, but the council says they are getting support under the Rental Accommodation Scheme.
Independent councillor for the Boyle Municipal District, Valerie Byrne, says urgent action is needed.
In total, there are 756 people on the social housing waiting list in Co Roscommon.
A total of 240 are waiting for a council home in Roscommon town, which has by far the longest waiting list.
Others areas with long waiting lists in Ballaghaderreen and Boyle, both with 85, Monksland with 74, Castlerea with 72 and Strokestown with 38.
In total, 53 people have been waiting between eight and 10 years for a council home.
50 have been waiting over 10 years.

This scheme involves the state paying part of a tenant's rent when they are in private rental accommodation.
