The IFA is calling for clarity on a compensation package annoucned for farmers in Leitrim affected by a devastating landslide over two years ago.
Earlier today the minister for agriculture confirmed that €500,000 was being made available towards an aid package for those impacted
Support will also be provided for fencing and gateways on agricultural land affected by the landslide.
In total, 19 BPS applicants and land owners along with 4 forestry contract holders are eligible, and a ceiling of €20,000 per applicant has been outlined.
IFA Connacht Regional Chair Pat Murphy says "The announcement of this aid package is a positive step, but the Minister and his department must come forward to clarify what the department is planning after this aid package.''
