The Shannonside Region has seen an increase in the number of claims for Carer's Allowance over the last year.
Figures from the Department of Social Protection show 3,614 carers in receipt of the payment in May 2023.
That's compared to 3,470 in the same month last year, a difference of 144 payments.
Carers Allowance is a means-tested payment made to a person providing full-time care and attention to a child or an adult who has a disability.
1,597 people were in receipt of the support in May of this year in Roscommon, compared to 1,525 the previous May.
Claims went up in Longford by 36 in the time period with 1,597 people on the payment this year.
That's followed by another increase of 36 in Leitrim bringing the total amount of carers receiving the payment in May of this year to 795.
