Gardaí have recorded a significant rise in the number of public order offences in quarter two of this year.
New CSO figures reveal drink and drug driving is also on the rise across the Shannonside region
CSO figures show thefts have increased across the Roscommon-Longford region in the second quarter of the year. Gardaí reported 85 thefts from shops in the region for quarter two of 2022, up significantly on the 55 reported thefts for quarter one.
13 Rape and sexual assault incidents were reported along with 83 incidents of assault. 31 people were arrested for drink driving and 28 people were caught driving under the influence of drugs. 101 public order offences were also reported in the second quarter, up on the 86 for the first three months of the year
In Sligo-Leitrim there was a significant decline in the number of sexual offences detected - with six rape and sexual assault investigations launched by Gardai - down from a total of 29 for quarter one.
42 motorists were arrested for drink driving offences, and 20 people were detected driving while under the influence of drugs - up significantly on figures for the first three months of the year.
93 incidents of thefts from shops were recorded - with 19 people detained by Gardai for possession of drugs for sale and supply. 195 public order offences were also recorded by Gardai in the second quarter of the year - up from 154 in the first three months of the year.
