A commitment has been given for an increased Garda presence in Mohill to tackle anti-social behaviour.
That's according to local councillor Thomas Mulligan who says a rise in incidents in the town and within some local authority estates must be addressed.
A meeting which was held yesterday to discuss the matter was attended by some local representatives, the acting Garda Superintendent and senior officials from Leitrim County Council.
It's understood as a result there will be more Garda patrols as well as a more stringent screening processes for those seeking housing in Mohill.
Speaking to Shannonside FM News Councillor Mulligan hopes these measures will address the situation.
''We had a very good meeting yesterday from here on there will be a more stringent screening process on people who apply to be housed in Mohill with a particular emphasis on any previous history of anti-social behaviour. If there was a history of anti-social behaviour they will be point blankly refused but if there's a situation we can't determine exactly what it is we will have to look at giving people housing on a temporary or caretaker capacity.''
