Inland Fisheries Ireland say they're hoping that bales of barley straw which have been deployed on Keeldra lake will help with the algal bloom there.
A warning was issued about the bloom last month by Leitrim council which is advising the public not to use it for swimming, and not to let animals swim or drink in it either.
The warning remains in place at the moment and there's also concern that fish could be affected by the toxic bloom as well.
Inland Fisheries helped Leitrim council put bales of barely straw on the lake in the last fortnight in an effort to soak up some of the toxins.
