A recent report compiled by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation shows over 100 patients have been waiting on trolleys or in wards in hospitals across the region.

This is over double the figure of last year, where 15 were waiting on trolleys

The INMO have reported this morning that 17 patients at Portiuncla Hospital were waiting on trolleys whilst 22 in Sligo University Hospital were without a bed.

There are currently 40 patients waiting for a bed at the North West Hospital according to the INMO.

University Hospital Limerick is again the busiest in the country with 83 people waiting today.

Nationally, University Hospital Limerick has the highest amount of people on trolleys today with 115.

Those figures are up from 528 compared to February 2023.

According to the latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, 35 patients were on trolleys in emergency departments, with a further 17 in hospitals wards at Sligo University Hospital.
