A Leitrim tradesman who lost his life in a workplace accident last year has been remembered as a 'wonderful son, brother and friend'.
Reginald Connolly of Edenville, Kinlough died in January 2021 after he sustained fatal injuries due to an industrial accident.
The 48-year-old worked at his family business; a steel fabrication and engineering company.
His inquest at Leitrim's Coroner's Court heard he died following an industrial accident at his home workshop in January of last year.
The talented tradesman and engineer suffered catastrophic injuries after coming into contact with a metal cutting band saw following an electrical fault.
A Health and Safety Authority investigation of the incident found the saw had a loose wire in the junction box resulting in the the equipment cutting out during operation.
Inspector Greg Murphy of the HSA told the inquest that no prosecutions were recommended under health and safety legislation.
Sligo/Leitrim Coroner Fergal Kelly returned a verdict of the occupational accident as the official cause of death and described Mr Connolly as 'a fantastic tradesman whose love for his family was evident in his daily life.'
