A Leitrim TD is calling on the government to ensure any investigation into Gardai missing calls on domestic violence is done by an external body.
Garda Commissioner Drew Harris issued a public apology last month after it was confirmed that hundreds of calls to Gardai were not directed to officers by people at a call centre.
A Garda inquiry into how more than 600 calls were not properly responded to between 2019 and 2020 is currently underway, but Sinn Fein spokesperson Martin Kenny believes for full transparency, the Gardai cannot be involved in the inquiry.
