A new report into the mental health unit at St Loman's in Mullingar has found five non-compliances following an inspection late last year.
The centre's overall compliance has increased marginally to 86% from the last report published in 2020.
The Admission's Unit and St Edna's Unit are located on the grounds of St. Loman's Hospital in Mullingar and provide a total accommodation for 44 residents.
The centre received an overall compliance rate of 86% which was up 3% from the compliance rating in 2020.
There were three conditions attached to the centre at the time of inspection. The approved centre was not in breach of its conditions but was non-compliant with two regulations related to premises.
It received five non-compliances on inspection, comprising four moderate and one low-risk rating and the centre received a moderate-risk non-compliance for the regulations on privacy, premises, risk management, and the use of seclusion.
The inspectors found that fire evacuation drills had not taken place since 2019, and ligature points, identified as a medium risk, were not minimised to the lowest practicable level based on risk assessment.
Additionally, the windows of the visiting room, dining room and assessment rooms which were overlooked by public areas did not have privacy blinds.
Overall, out of 31 areas inspected, 31 were compliant; 5 non-compliant; and 3 non-applicable.
The risk ratings for the 5 non-compliances were 4 rated as moderate and one low.
Management also outlined a number of actions on foot of the report, including anti-ligature works currently in progress which were due to be complete by the end of last year. and a fire evacuation drill was scheduled for Christmas week.
