A Leitrim farmer who's been working with Ukrainian refugees says that the interest in a social farming scheme has been high.
The Leitrim Social Farming initiative supports refugees to grow their own produce.
Tommy Earley spoke following a visit by the Ukrainian Ambassador to Ireland to Leitrim.
He says that the scheme has been very well received by Ukrainian refugees living in the area.
"A lot of people in Ukraine would have allotments and would grow their own food on them so they were delighted to have access to ground and it's not too far form the hotel so they were able to come and go from it easy enough. We planted crops there and we lifted them and they were able to use them in th ehotel so it was great, it was a good expierience all around. On that out-farm there's a small cottage and we're putting a little set on that so when we get going again in next spring, they'll be able to go into and make a drop of tea or boil up the kettle".
