A Roscommon LGFA fundraising drive has received a helping hand from a major international celebrity.
The association's executive members along with management, teams and players have walked, ran and cycled 100km since February in order to raise funds by March 17th for the organisations continued operations.
As the fundraiser closed on Wednesday this week, Roscommon LGFA were just short of their target of €15,000.
The target was met on St. Patrick's Day thanks to a generous donation from actor and Boyle native Chris O'Dowd.
O'Dowd, who himself played minor football for the county, praised the association for their work in raising the important funds.
In a Twitter exchange this week, the LGFA thanked the former goalkeeper for never forgetting his Roscommon roots.
