Reducing class sizes and providing more therapeutic supports should be the priority when it comes to education in any new Government. That's according to Irish National Teachers’ Organisation President and Longford Teacher Carmel Browne who's calling for adequate resources to be delivered by whomever forms the incoming government. Ireland’s average primary school class remains above the EU average at 23 students to one teacher. The organisation is calling on the incoming Government to reduce this to 19 students in mainstream schools and to 15 students in Deis schools.
