A Garda investigation has been launched following reports of a number of shots fired at a Longford Housing Estate yesterday.
Gardaí were alerted to the incident at the entrance of the Dún Darrach Estate on the Dublin Road outside the town shortly after 3.40 yesterday afternoon.
No one was injured in the incident and a technical examination has since taken place.
Investigating Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the Dundarragh area of Longford yesterday afternoon between 3 and 4 or who noticed anything unusual in the town itself between 2 and 4pm to contact them.
Longford Gardaí are also asking those with camera footage or to any motorist with dash cam footage from the estate at the time of the incident to contact the Incident Room at Longford Garda Station or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111.
