An investigation is underway into the alleged rape of a female member of the Defence Forces in Dublin.
It’s alleged to have happened at a hotel being used for mandatory hotel quarantine earlier this week.
Gardai have confirmed they are investigating an allegation of an assault at a south city centre hotel.
It’s understood a female member of the Defence Forces has reported being sexually assaulted at a hotel being used for mandatory hotel quarantine on Monday night.
Gardai say their investigations are ongoing.
The Defence Forces have also issued a brief statement.
They say Oglaigh na Eireann is aware of an alleged incident that recently took place at a hotel that is currently in use for the purpose of Mandatory Hotel Quarantine.
They say as the matter is the subject of an ongoing Garda investigation it is inappropriate and not possible to comment any further.
