Investigations are underway after a well-known public house in Athone was engulfed in a fire this morning.
Flames were seen coming from Charlie Browns Bar on the Dublin Rd in the town.
Emergency services attended the scene of the fire just before 6am this morning.
No persons were on the premises at the time of the fire.
The bar is located close to AIT in the town and was previously known as Brendan’s Bar.
Gardai and three units of Athlone Fire Brigade attended the scene at 5.50 am.
It is believed that Charlies had only reopened last week after being closed due to the ongoing Covid restrictions.
Investigations are continuing.
