A pensioner has been seriously injured after a shooting in Longford town.
It happened in the Springlawn estate shortly before 8 o'clock last night, when shots were fired at a house.
A man in his 70s was rushed to Mullingar hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The scene was last night preserved for a technical examination, and no arrests have been made.
Former Councillor Gerry Warnock, who lives in Longford town, is condemning the incident.
