Investigations are continuing into a dumping incident on a new bog roadway at Newtowncashel.
Longford council Environment Officer Gary Brady says the council is working with Bord Na Mona on the case and believe the rubbish wasn't brought from any significant distance away.
The dumping on the new amenity was highlighted on the Newtowncashel Parish Facebook page in the past week.
Gary Brady from Longford council say's they're continuing on a clear-up of the area and hope to find the person responsible.
He says the new walks are a great amenity for the local areas, but unfortunately they are also open to this kind of abuse
"It's fantastic for local communities to get out walking, get walking along the canals and a great amenity. On the flip side they've also allowed people who will illegally dump a new location to dump in. We're trying to track down the perpetrator. We're working with Bórd Na Móna because it's Bórd na Móna land to try and clean up the site as quickly as possible and then hopefully track down the person who dumped the waste because they didn't come too far, I believe it was a tractor and trailer who brought it so, we're working hard to catch the perpetrator".
