Investigations are underway after a light plane crashed in County Longford last night.
A man was hospitalised following the incident at around 9.00pm in Drumlish,
It's understood the pilot, who is believed to be from the Shannonside region, crash landed his single seat light aircraft in a field just outside the village off the Mohill Road.
He was taken to Mullingar regional hospital for treatment but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
It's understood the experienced pilot got into difficulty when he attempted to land, resulting in him circling the area before attempting a second time.
It's reported that the plane was severely damaged in the incident.
The air accident investigation unit is currently carrying out a technical examination of the scene.
