Investigations are underway following an incident of assault in Athlone.
The incident occured on Saturday in the Connaught Street area of the town at around 1am.
A man was taken to Portiuncula Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Local Gardaí say enquiries are still ongoing and are asking anyone with information to contact them.
