A representative from the Irish Patients Association has confirmed that a letter sent to Shannonside FM from a listener has been forwarded to the Chief Executive of the HSE. The letter was read out on the Joe Finnegan Show earlier this week which described the A&E at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar as 'pathetic' and 'not fit for purpose.'
She expressed her disappointment at the extremely long waiting times at the department, ranging from 7 to 10 hours per patient. Stephen McMahon from the Irish Patients Association commended the patient for writing about her experience and described the letter as powerful.
