Ireland will be among the third seeds for next month's World Cup qualifier draw, following last night’s nil-all draw with Bulgaria.
Stephen Kenny's side failed to score for a seventh consecutive game and rounded out 2020 without a victory and a record of four draws and three defeats.
Ireland will now be placed in pot three for the 2022 World Cup qualifying draws with Russia, Norway, Hungary, Czech Republic, Scotland, Iceland, Northern Ireland, Finland and Greece.
Pot one contains Belgium, France, England, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Croatia, Germany and the Netherlands.
While pot two contains Romania, Switzerland, Poland, Sweden, Wales, Austria, Ukraine, Turkey, Serbia and Slovakia.
The 2022 World Cup qualifying draw takes place on December seven with Ireland to be drawn into a group of six or five teams. The group winner qualifies for the World Cup automatically with the runner-up entering the play-offs.
Last night’s draw did see Ireland avoid dropping into League C of the Nations League.
