A Longford woman is continuing to call for better care for people with Huntington's disease in this country.
The disease is an inherited disorder that causes nerve cells in parts of the brain to gradually break down and die and means people affected require round the clock specialised care as it progresses.
Pauline Doran's husband John was diagnosed with the disease several years ago, and her son Joe who is now middle-aged, is living with the condition.
He's now being cared for at the only centre in the country which is equipped to deal with people affected by Huntington's.
A walk is taking place at Lough Key Forest Park in Joe's name this Saturday morning to raise awareness of Huntington's and funds for the association.

'Joe is in a safe place and is well looked after. He's in there about two and a half years now. I can't thank them enough, It's Bloomfield Health Services in Rathfarnam.
The Huntington's Disease Agency is fantastic but there is one, just one unit in Ireland to cater for the younger cohort.
