Chiefs at Ireland West Airport Knock are optimistic that 1 million passengers will pass through the airport in 2022.
Three new UK routes have been announced for the airport with a demand for flights to destinations such as Milan, Faro, Majorca, and Cologne.
The Mayo aviation facility was closed for 182 days in 2021 resulting in losses of over 2.5 million euro.
However, Marketing and Communications Manager Donal Healy says people have made savings during the pandemic and are now ready to spend them on holidays.
He believes it's a long road back but is hopeful the Irish diaspora and local people will support the airport this year.
