Air Corps helicopters are being used to track power line breaks in hard to reach areas following Friday's heavy winds.

Irish Air Corp helicopters are currently assisting ESB staff by providing aerial surveys across North Longford, Leitrim and Cavan. Air Corps helicopters are being used to track power line breaks in hard to reach areas following Friday's heavy winds. Defence Forces aircraft have been spotted working around Aughnacliffe and the wider north Longford area this afternoon.

It forms part of the Defence Forces response to local authorities for assistance in the aftermath of Storm Eowyn. The assistance includes the provision of 200 camp beds to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny and the accommodation of Irish Prison Service personnel in Colin's Barracks Cork.
