The Irish Cancer Society are encouraging people in Longford to attend free health checks this week.
The clinics will be available in Longford Shopping Centre on Wednesday and Thursday from 9am to 6pm.
No appointment is necessary and the 15 minute check will incorporate blood pressure, body mass index and carbon monoxide tests.
Cancer Prevention Manager at the Irish Cancer Society, Kevin O'Hagan says that the oncology nurses in attendance will be able to spot any early symptoms and refer people to their GP if necessary
"If any concerns are arising, then they will certainly advise around linking in with your GP or making a referral to your GP. It's just an opportunity for people to address questions. They may be worried about a particular symptom or something that's bothering them. It's just an opportunity to have that conversation with the nurses. These nurses are specialists in cancer, they're oncology nurses so they would be able to provide some information or even if you're caring for someone who has cancer and maybe there's questions there, they may be able to provide some information there".
