Catering services were suspended by Irish Rail in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Passengers are being asked to check timetables online and book intercity travel in advance before travelling.

It's moving some services back to the previous schedule, which was replaced at the end of August.

Up to five additional weekday services on the route come into effect this week including an early 5.45am service leaving Dublin.

Iarnród Éireann have advised those travelling to pre-book tickets, arrive at the station early, allow plenty of travel time, and bring water for the journey.

Irish Rail says there have been 28 recorded incidents at level crossings so far this year.

The services include a new late service leaving Dublin Heuston at 8.30.
