Irish Rail is hoping that it will see improved capacity on its services on the Sligo and Westport routes in 2021.
Figures released to Shannonside Northern Sound News show that in February before the pandemic passenger journeys were up 4% on the Sligo route and 2% on the Westport service on 2019 figures.
But by April, both routes were down 95% on the same period last year.
During the second lockdown, in October, passenger numbers on the Sligo service were down 73% with the Westport service down 74% on October 2019.
