Irish Water says it has been difficult to get a contractor to address issues with road resurfacing following works carried out in south Leitrim.
Ballinamore Councillor Caillian Ellis had expressed his concern that a road between Fenagh and Keshcarrigan as well as Gorvagh and Mohill had been left in a poor condition following works carried out by the utility over 12 months ago.
Responding to the concerns, Irish water says road contractors are "exceptionally busy" this year and it has been difficult to get a contractor to complete these works.
They claim that they are co-operating with Leitrim County Council to procure an alternative contractor to carry out permanent reinstatement of the most critical areas before year end.
