Irish Water to defer imposing excessive use charge for homeowners

Irish Water is deferring charging homeowners for using too much water.

It says it's still working with the government and the Commission for the Regulation of Utilities on the penalties, but no date has been agreed.

The charges have already been postoned several times, with excessive water usage fees due to be introduced next year, before being deferred to 2022.

People Before Profit TD Brid Smith says the focus should be on improving the water infrastructure.
