Water supply to south Longford should be restored by 3pm this afternoon after a major water burst along the N55.
Thousands of people in the wider Ballymahon and Edgeworthstown areas are affected by the issues first reported this morning.
Irish water crews are attempting to restore supply to thousands of people in the wider south and east Longford area this afternoon following a major outage.
A burst watermain on the N55 has led to a loss of supply for Homes and businesses in areas such as Edgeworthstown; Barry; Tirlickeen; Toome; Ballymahon Town; Forgney; Clooncallow; Newcastle; Creevaghmore and surrounding areas.
Irish Water has confirmed that the repair is expected to be completed at 3pm this afternoon and once the waterman has been repaired it may take a number of hours for the water supply to return in full to all impacted properties.
