It's hoped that the Destination Towns initiative in Boyle will be complete in 2022.
The 600,000 euro project being developed by Roscommon County Council and Fáilte Ireland hopes to attract visitors to Lough Key Forest Park to walk or cycle into Boyle town and enhance the visitor experience between the two locations.
Works have already taken place on a new cycle and walkway from Lough Key Forest Park to King House and the Pleasuregrounds.
