John Naughten to be laid to rest today in south Roscommon

The funeral of south Roscommon councillor and Fine Gael general election candidate, John Naughten, is taking place today. The 50-year-old died suddenly last Friday at his home in Drum. His funeral Mass takes place in St Brigid's Church, Drum, at 11 o'clock this morning, with burial afterwards in Drum Cemetery. Fine Gael councillor Gareth Scahill says John was very helpful to him as a new councillor - and his death came as a great surprise.

As a mark of respect, Roscommon County Council offices will close from 11am today. The Athlone Area Office in Monksland will also close to the public.
