A judge has directed that a marquee erected in a halting site in south Dublin be taken down ahead of a planned wedding reception this evening.
She was told the father of the groom planned to go ahead with the party, despite knowing they were in breach of Covid-19 rules.
As of Monday, weddings can have up to fifty people at the service, but no more than 15 can attend an outdoor celebration afterwards.
Only six can attend an indoor reception.
This couple got married in Co Armagh this morning and a marquee was erected at a halting side at Burton Park on Leopardstown Rd to host a reception at 6pm.
However, Judge Sinéad Ní Chulacháin has given the local authority permission to take it down if the groom’s parents, Michael and Johanna Connors, fail to do so.
Aside from breaching Covid-19 rules, she was told they were was also in breach of their tenancy agreement and the council also raised insurance concerns.
Everyone associated with the reception, including the bridal party and guests, is to be warned that they have been restrained from entering the marquee.
