History has been made at a Leitrim courthouse after a jury was selected using remote technology for the first time in the county.
The eight men and four women were selected via video link for the trial at Carrick on Shannon Circuit Court this afternoon.
The jury panel were based at a nearby hotel and were called to serve via video link by Judge John Alymer.
After some minor technical issues between both venues, the 12 people were empanelled and took their places in the socially distanced courtroom.
The jury heard opening evidence this afternoon in the case of a woman accused of a theft of goods worth €242 from a charity shop in Carrick in March 2018.
The trial is expected to last two days.
