The jury in the trial of a man accused of murdering a garda in Castlerea over two years ago will begin their third day of deliberations shortly.
Stephen Silver, of Aughaward, Foxford, Co Mayo, denies murdering detective Colm Horkan in June 2020, but admits manslaughter by diminished responsibility.
The jury has been considering the evidence since lunchtime on Tuesday after a seven-week trial at the Central Criminal Court. There are four verdicts open to the jurors; capital murder, murder, manslaughter, or manslaughter by diminished responsibility.
The jury of seven men and five women was sent home on Wednesday afternoon after over seven hours of deliberations and will resume around now.
