Three-hundred-and-twenty-one people with addresses in the Shannonside Northern sound region were jailed last year.
New figures from the Irish Prison Service reveal that the second-highest rate of imprisonment occurred among those in Longford, with 203 people jailed for every 100,000 of population.
A total of 83 people from Longford were jailed last year - 75 men and eight women which was a 38% rise in figures for 2018.
In Cavan, 97 people with addresses in the county were incarcerated last year - up from 78 the year before - a rise of just over 24%.
In Leitrim, just one woman was jailed year - out of the 30 people sent to prison - a rise on the 21 people jailed in 2018.
Two fewer people in Monaghan were jailed last year compared to 2018 -as the figure dropped from 63 to 61 and in Roscommon nine women were among the fifty people jailed year - up one on the 49 people jailed in 2018.
