The owner of Geraghtys shop in Carrick-on-Shannon says the family intends to continue their efforts to oppose any plans to demolish the building.
Kathleen Geraghty was commenting on a controversy that has arisen in recent weeks after the family learned the local authority was seeking funds to develop the middle of the town, and that could mean demolishing the building.
The council has since issued a statement stating that it regrets any misunderstanding that arose in submitting the application, and that any project agreed for the area would take years to bring to fruition.
Kathleen Geraghty says the statement from the council has not reassured her about the future of her property and she wants it kept for her family.
